If some generous individual is willing to help in this matter, i reckon a course of action to figure this out would be along the lines of:Įither have a pre- KB4577586 Windows 10 install or using a VM to install an older version of windows, anything older than 2021 so that flash is enabled,

It may be an environment variable that needs to be set or some registry keys to edit to get it back to working order, but i no longer have the means to track exactly what the windows update did. From what i can tell the files that make up the ActiveX controls under C:\Windows\System32\Macromed and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed are still, in fact, there, but not recognized as installed anymore. Was hoping by now someone more resourceful figured out a way to re-enable it. If at any time the link for download stops working, just google and find the same version, or some other late version that doesn't have kill switch in it (like the one that i used) No need to delete files like in the instructions, just take ownershipġ0) Once you have been able to rename the file (check step 8), now change the name of "Flash32_0_0_344.ocx" to "Flash.ocx".ġ1) Now any desktop apps you have that ran off of flash will work again.ġ2) IMPORTANT: If microsoft update has completely removed any traces of flash, meaning there is no macromed/flash folder like in step 6, you do not need to rename anything, literally just install flash with win 7 compatibility mode and select never check for updates! This link will give you instructions to edit the permissions (it's several steps): You need to rename the file "Flash.ocx" to "Flash.ocx" however you need to change the permissions first in order to do this. You should see 2 files here, one is called "Flash.ocx" and the other is called "Flash32_0_0_344.ocx" Navigate to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash Now install that file, and you must select never check for updates at the end! In the installer package which i will link in reply to this (or just google same version) right click the file: flashplayer32_0r0_344_winax.exeĬheck the box from compatibility mode and then select "Windows 7" from the drop down Uninstall flash from your control panel and with uninstaller just to be sure, restart
